Boston has a good number of clothing stores that are cheap, incl. TJ Maxx, Marshall ‘s, DSW Shoes and Filene’s Basement. Nevertheless, when he reaches my age and when you re on the phone or cc “Discount” isn’t enough, whereupon thoughts turn to “Outlets”. Admittedly, several of our visitors from abroad make Outlet Shopping one of their top priorities. While we don’t have Outlet Malls within the town itself, Nonetheless we do have them within a small distance.
The Granddaddy of outlet malls is The popular Kittery Outlets in Kittery, Maine (it’s less than an hour from Boston). It has more than 120 outlet stores, incl Ralph Loren, Banana Republic, Bass, Calvin Klein, J. Staff, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, and Levi’ s.
Freeport is a beautiful beach Maine village with over 200 high-end outlets, developer stores, and quirky shops. It is apartment to the world-famous L. L. Coffee, plus Burberry, Brooks Brothers, Reebok, and Ralph Loren Polo. Times vary by shop, but L. L. Coffee is available 24 hours a day, two weeks a week. The Harbor is about 2 km long. 5 hours north of Boston.
Cape Cod Factory Outlet is The largest Factory Outlet plaza on Cape Cod and is about an hour from Boston. There have been more than 20 nationally-known factory outlet shops, incl Bass, Van Heusen;, L ‘Eggs, Hanes, Bali, Playtex, Izod, Jones New York.
Finally, Wrentham Village Premium Outlets has 170 shops, incl Banana Republic, Barneys New York, Burberry, Coach, Tahari, Hugo Boss, J. Staff, Kenneth Cole, Lacoste, Nike, Ralph Lauren, Saks Fifth Avenue Off Fifth, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Sony. It is about 30 minutes west of Boston. Memo that this is also the outlet mall accessible via alternative transportation from Boston (for van communication, Tap now).
