Lyn Mettler lived in Indianapolis, he loves Aspen, CO. “It’s a hippie-chic area with many of the most important scenic hill landscape in the Rockies” the travel blogger says, who visits regularly. “I love to walk through Aspen, have lunch, and end by the garden, for which you’re only as likely to see a struggling songwriter polishing his competence for money as you can be to have a person of the rich concealed inside an ugly leather jacket.”

That mix of glam appeal and down-to-earth authenticity helped Aspen place in the top 10 of the Travel destinations in the United States+Leisure readers. In the latest America’s Favorite Places survey, Readers ranked hundreds of cities and towns in categories including live music scene, bookstores, brunch places, and the enthusiasm of local sports fans.

When we analyzed the 25 top-ranking small towns — those with fewer than 50, we found a fascinating mix of ski resorts, beach communities, and college towns with history and quirky charm. Tellingly, some of the towns with the overall top scores, including one with a pirate past and another with a long line of Francophiles, I particularly liked the relaxed feel.

Myrtle Beach, SC, for example, the size increases during the peak season, draw loyal fans for its simple pleasures. Dawn Norrod is a Columbus-based small business owner, OH, who visits every year?: “Myrtle Beach has a ton of resorts, proper on the block, with just about whatever cost or comfort you want.” Above that, she says, “there must be one enduring ram that remains for each tour. It’s me, seated in my furniture inside 5 pc. M. Until nighttime, only watching the desert insects come in then out of the desert. = = = = = That is = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =, and the noise of the vibration.”
